1. "Oh, it's hard to stick to April."

Every January, the fitness center will add many new members, which is the busiest month for fitness clubs. Because many people come with the ambition to realize their New Year's wishes. At this time, there are long queues in front of the treadmill, fitness trainers are busy, and there are shortages of towels in the lounge.

This situation will not last long. Researchers at the University of Washington found that most people can only persist in the practice of New Year's plan for 90 days. Fitness clubs are eager to do this. They often 20%-30% of people who abandon the contract can often count on it.

In that case, why not avoid the crowded January or the first three months? When choosing a gym, you should confirm whether there are people in your scheduled time, whether there are time limits for the use of the equipment, etc.

2. "There are many bacteria here..."

80% of infectious diseases can be transmitted through direct and indirect contact. Especially in the gym, where sweating and frequent physical contact, it just provides a breeding ground for infection, from athlete's foot to colds. For example, we found the super germ MRSA on the fitness solid ball, which is a staphylococci that has a certain resistance to antibiotics. Therefore, it is recommended that every time you finish your body, it is best to wash your hands carefully. Some fitness centers provide watering cans for cleaning equipment. This is a means of protection, but fitness workers must also protect themselves. For example, use the towels you bring, put your underwear in a clean place, and do not sit naked in any public place, etc.

3. "We may not be able to deal with an emergency."

In the United States, it is said that nearly one-third of heart attacks at home and outside the hospital occur next to fitness clubs or sports equipment. However, many fitness centers are not well prepared for such emergencies. Here is a case: In July 2004, at the 24-hour fitness club in California, 43-year-old Nick Pombra suddenly fainted on a treadmill. The club tried cardiac resuscitation (CPR), but it was too late when the paramedics arrived.

Although effective cardioresuscitation can win a small amount of time, the heart suddenly stopped beating but could not recover. This is why there is an automatic external defibrillator (AED). Without professional CPR or AED, the chance of rebirth decreases by 10% every minute. In New York, clubs with more than 500 fitness workers are required to be equipped with CPR-knowledge, AED and professionally trained paramedics as required, while in the 2005 survey, two-thirds of the clubs did not meet the requirements. Therefore, when joining a fitness club, you must know the rescue facilities there.

4. "Fitness coaches don't know what they are doing."

When you exercise, you are looking forward to coaches helping you with their expertise, right? They all hope that they not only have a Colgate-like smile and strong muscles, but also teach you one or two ways to maintain their figure, right? But sometimes it is not the case. A fitness industry consultant told us that many coaches have not undergone professional training. Just pay some money and have a job certificate in short courses.

There is a case here: Jonathan Jack Bousson, 35 years old, He is a marketing manager with a lumbar disc herniation. He found a personal trainer who hoped to design a fitness plan that suited him. But after participating in the boxing training recommended by the coach, he felt the pain worsened. After the doctor asked Jonathan to stop, the coach recommended him to practice Pilates, but the movements he taught aggravated Jonathan's condition and had to go to the hospital for treatment again. Jonathan said: "That guy claimed to have a certificate and a wall of medals. It took me a whole year to completely relieve my pain."

When looking for a fitness coach, you should find someone with a domestic authoritative organization certification. In the United States, there is the American Sports Medicine School (the American College of Sports Medicine or the National Strength Conditioning Association. Also, it is best to be trained in sports medicine or first aid.
