The reason is very simple: the training of the entire upper body muscles requires active participation in the arm muscles, and the arm muscles are also exercised while participating in exercises in other parts.
For example: After the back training, your biceps have been highly stimulated. Most back training requires the biceps as the main assistance! At this time, just use isolated movements (curls) to depict the lines of the biceps, and you can achieve twice the result with half the effort.
