Big muscle means big strength?

In fact, muscles are muscles. There is no difference between the essence of muscles trained by bodybuilders and gymnasts, basketball players and moving workers ( Except for the proportions of red and white muscles, there may be no decisive differences in the function and constituent elements of the muscles)

【Note 1】 The principle of the larger the muscles, the greater the strength it can produce remains unchanged.

But why in some cases, people with larger muscles show less strength than people with smaller muscles?

Before the discussion, let us briefly understand how the neuromuscular system operates

The completion of an action, although it depends on muscles, issuing orders to complete the entire set of actions. The brain nervous system; that is, muscles are just soldiers who obey orders, and what really plans and commands the brain nerves.

Although the more soldiers and the more refined weapons, the higher the chance of winning a war, if there is no flexible dispatch and holistic joint combat, no matter how many troops and the more refined weapons, it is probably not as good as a short, concise and strong teamwork.

The same principle is, if our training method focuses on individual strengthening of a single joint and a single muscle group ( If the biceps curls in the sitting position, then the nervous system will be accustomed to this single model of lack of cooperation between muscle groups

So when we start engaging in more complex movements (such as pulling a single bar) ) In the case of ), due to the lack of such movements in the past training, there is no record in the brain nervous system, it is impossible to issue appropriate instructions to all participating muscles to respond appropriately at the right time. No matter how big the muscles are, they cannot make the horizontal bar pulling movement in the example. This is why some people with larger muscles cannot perform better than those with smaller muscles when pulling horizontal bars.

So muscles are muscles, and the reason for the difference in actual performance lies in the way of movement training.

Whether you want to make your body healthy, move more freely through training, or improve Performance in special sports; or hope to develop muscle strength that can be applied in daily life. If you want to make the body perform more functions, the more efficient method is to train the function of the whole nerve conduction and muscle coordination through complete movements.

For example, if you want to develop the skills and figure of pulling horizontal bars, then the more efficient method is to pull the horizontal bars so that all the functions related to nerve and skeletal muscle system are trained at the same time, whether it is the order of muscle use, the required muscle group or the amount of muscles that must be equipped.

[Note]: There is currently a saying that the differences in muscle hypertrophy methods are caused by differences: one is the increase in sarcoplasm, and the other is muscle fiber hypertrophy. The two will cause muscle hypertrophy due to different training methods, but there are differences in muscle function and performance. However, there is no clear scientific evidence to prove its universality. Therefore, it is temporarily retained here and will be discussed after more scientific evidence in the future.
