Want to become a bench press expert - the perfect bench press technology is the cornerstone of your success!
When the internationally renowned physical training, Tony Gentilcore mentioned two bench press techniques in his video channel to help you perform bench press better!
1. Don’t lie on the bench press stool at will!
The stability of the shoulder scapula is very important during bench press. The center of the barbell just falls down on the shoulder blade. During the process, you must feel your upper back pressing hard against the stool!
Tony in the video Coach Gentilcore's preparation movement is a great technical correction.
Lying on the bench press stool first, then supporting your body in a bridge shape, which will help your shoulders scapula firmly press on the stool! Then slide upwards, lying down, and stepping on your feet!
2. Another point is not to over-abroaden the shoulders!
Many people like to hold them wide during bench presses, and the shoulders are over-abroaded (the angle between the elbow joint and the trunk tends to be 90 degrees)!
This will increase the risk of some injuries. Too much abduction of the shoulders will cause your shoulders to be in an unstable state! The humerus is far away from the joint pit (glenoid fossa), and the shoulder blades will also be lifted up, thus losing the stability of the shoulder straps!
What you need to do is: slightly rotate the shoulders, sink, and the angle between the arm and the trunk is about 45 degrees!
